Our Story

Fox Mountain Inn, a charming 10-room roadside motel established in 1982  is now a destination boutique inn. 

Conveniently situated at exit 84 on I-81 on historic Route 11  in Max Meadows, Virginia.

Fox Mountain Inn is family-owned and operated by photographers and avid motorcyclists, Jim and Michelle Overdorff. The Inn offers clean, quiet, and comfortable accommodations in a peaceful mountain setting. With just 10 guest rooms, we specialize in personalized service and a relaxed atmosphere where guests can truly unwind.

Conveniently located near local race venues, universities, ball fields, festivals, and regional attractions, Fox Mountain Inn is an ideal choice for business travelers, families, couples, and groups. Many of our guests are repeat visitors who value our consistency, hospitality, and attention to detail.

Amenities include well-maintained rooms, outdoor seating areas, grills, and a firepit, creating a welcoming space to relax after a day of travel or events. Select pet-friendly rooms are available by direct reservation only.

"Every thing seems impossible until it is done..."  Nelson Mandela.  And that is where we are today.  Renovating the Inn seemed like it would never get to completion, but after 16 months, we finished it.  March we took on renovating what was the restaurant next door. We were hoping to have it completed by May 1st, however here we are June 1st and still have much to go. We did not realize the depth of cleaning to get to a point to renovate was going to take this long. Much degreasing, repairing the broken and replacing things like hot water heater, heating/air, toilets, holes in walls,  sanding floors just to get to the cosmetic fixes. We are so close.. but just the 2 of us and our explosive increase in reservations at the Inn has made getting things done difficult. ( we have had guests lend a hand and we do appreciate that.) We are hoping to start renting the venue out in July if we can complete renovations in June.  

The Inn has been hopping this season with multiple day stays and group bookings.  We are already taking reservations into October.  We have always said "if they find us they almost always come back".  85% of our guests are repeat guests and now family's are coming, referrals from guests to friends are coming and we are growing! We thank all of our guests for leaving reviews on Google, Facebook, Booking.com and BBB.  That is the biggest compliment we can get and keeps us in the forefront of searches.

Renovations Complete..
Amenities are growing.
Looking for the perfect getaway for your large group or family reunion? Our Inn offers the ideal setting, with options to rent either the entire property (10 rooms) or half (5 rooms).
Whether you're planning a girls' getaway, a golf or fishing trip, family reunion, or a motorcycle group adventure, we have the space and amenities to make your stay memorable. Book now and create lasting memories with your loved ones! 
Group reservations must be made a minimum of 30 days in advance and made by calling direct for savings.




 

Group stays include the following: Each room has 2 double/full size beds, Microwave, Mini Fridge, Tv, table and chairs in room for 2. Outside amenities include nightly firepit fires with smores 7-10pm, picnic tables, outdoor seating, dog park area, yard games, including "bags" . Grills and cooking utensils, charcoal and table, "body size" cooler. After May you will have access to our new indoor venue area for you and your group to use.  Coffee, teas, hot chocolates, hot and cold water machine, as of May 1st, ice machine for drinks, and of course Cinnamon rolls each morning! 

What's Included ?

All group bookings must pay for 1st night when making reservation.  

Our check in times for group stays can be altered to a 1pm check-in if requested at time of booking, so plan your reservation accordingly if you are here for an event.

Our check in time is 3pm-10pm.

We do accept cash payments at arrival, however 1st night by CC is due at booking.

*Cancellations can be made 48hrs/2 days or more before arrival date and will be refunded minus a processing fee for each room cancelled. 

**Cancellations inside that window, as well as partial cancellations or early departures are non-refundable.

Dining

There are several menus in the lobby for area restaurants most are 15min in either direction from the Inn. Our favorite and shout out this month is Old Road Steak House in Pulaski. Open 11-9 and 11-10 on Thursday, Fri, Sat.

Relax and Unwind

Relax and unwind nightly at our firepit. Mingle with fellow guests, make s'mores or just take in the peacefulness of a warm fire.

We have also had to implement a $25.00 charge each time you do not pick up after your pet.

Remember you are on camera while on the Inn's grounds. 

Pets can NOT be left unattended unless crated. -FMI accepts NO responsibility for pets left in rooms unattended even if crated.

Pet Fees are included in room price. We have a limited number of Pet Rooms. If you book a NON-Pet room in error we are unable to accommodate the change at check-in and you will be charged a cancellation fee. There is also a $100 fee for each undeclared/non-approved pet brought into the Inn

Our Cancellation Policy

As a small, family-owned inn, every reservation truly matters to us.

Cancellations — especially last minute — have a big impact, and we appreciate your kindness and understanding.

 

Individual Reservations:

If your plans change, please let us know at least 48 hours before your first night, and we’ll refund your stay minus a $15 processing fee OR you can reschedule within a 30 day window of original date at no charge .

Because we prepare each room especially for your arrival, cancellations within the 48hrs,day-of cancellations, partial cancellations, or early departures are non-refundable.

 

Group Reservations:

Our group rates are based on the number of rooms and length of stay. Cancellations made 48hr or more before arrival will be refunded minus a $15 processing fee per room.

Cancellations made within the 48hr period, as well as partial cancellations or early departures, are non-refundable.
